Leonard Grobien

was born in Bonn in 1998. He started making and editing films at the age of 13. He also works as an actor.

After graduating from high school, he completed an internship at Deutsche Welle as well as with director Tina Kriwitz and on the set of Lars Kraume's series ‘Die neue Zeit’. He also realised several short films, including ‘Glasknochen’ (2017) and ‘Im Spiegel’ (2018), based on the short story by Margret Steenfatt.

In spring 2019, he began studying screenwriting at Ifs Cologne, which he successfully completed in 2023. At the same time, he began hosting the FUNK YouTube channel ‘100percent me’, which was nominated for the Grimme Award.

During his studies, he realised further short films, for which he both wrote the scripts and directed: ‘Shut Up’ (2021), ‘Special’ (2022), ‘Incogito’ (2022) and ‘Mondkind’ (2024). In addition, shortly after his studies, the short film ‘Ad Lunam’ (2024) and ‘Vincible’ (tba 2024). He also appeared as an actor and writer in the Writers Room film ‘Magische Zutat’ (2024, directed by Nikolas Jürgens) by ‘Rollenfang’.

Leonard is also active as an actor and took on a leading role in the graduation film ‘Was wir wollen’ by Eléna Weiß from the Hamburg Media School and a supporting role in the film ‘Der Wald in mir’ by Sebastian Fritzsch. He is currently (2023-2024) on stage in the play ‘Die vielen Stimmen meines Bruders’ at Schauspielhaus Wien. This will be followed in 2024 by the plays ‘24 Hebel für die Welt - Berichte aus der Winterreise’ by Un-Label and ‘Bock’ at the Theater an der Ruhr.
