Sonic Island x Nguyễn + Transitory

SONiC iSLAND is an interdisciplinary series of events that brings electronic music, audiovisual performance and performative experiments to the Theater an der Ruhr. The aim is to create a temporary experiential space that combines electronic club culture, digital art and a theatrical context - an archipelago on the outskirts of the city, a luminous resonating body between rhythm and reflection.

Nguyễn + Transitory reconfigure spaces into musical architectures in which traditional folk and contemporary modes of expression meet. In their practice, sound is not just an aesthetic tool, but a dramaturgical force that interweaves memory, history and collective experience. Instead of resolving opposites, they work with the productive tension between old and new forms, creating an expression that connects past and present. Their works - including Yue (2024), cham-cam (2024) and Symphony Of Intimacies (2022) - combine sound and body, ritual and performance. They understand the artistic process as an open space in which sound, history and identity are in constant flux.
