In the school playground, Bo feels like an outsider. Instead of spending break time with the other children, Bo watches the goings-on from the edge of the playground and longs to be back in their own room, which is so small that only a bed fits inside. Bo thinks the hidden-object book they receive for their birthday is childish. But then the birthday boy or girl spots themselves in the picture, and the book comes to life. Leah Luna Winzely harnesses the power of imagination to explore experiences of loneliness. The colourful cosmos of diverse voices and perspectives emerges from her playful handling of text forms and linguistic styles.
