We invite families to a day full of music, creativity and hands-on fun: Sukini will be bringing powerful beats and a great atmosphere to the stage with their children’s concert. Beforehand, dance and theatre educator Mayra Capovilla will be inviting children to a dance workshop so that everyone can get moving together. There will also be free play with the AWO’s mobile play centre and a utopian wishing tree for wishes for the future, big and small. In addition, pupils from the Dichterviertel Primary School and the Katharinenschule will present their artistic work from the audiobook and theatre club.
Sukini
Sukini’s second album, Da haben wir den Salat, celebrates children and rebellion! Sukini, who has been known in the hip-hop scene for years as Sookee, delivers music for children that adults are more than welcome to listen in on. After almost 20 years as a queer-feminist rapper, Sukini now extends another invitation to everyone to engage with the themes and discussions she addresses in her lyrics, sometimes loudly, sometimes quietly. Politically sustainable: instead of artificial productions and fast-moving music products, Sukini chooses a different path: She sings about topics that stem from her lived reality and current debates, prioritising artistic decisions over commercial ones. The title track, Da haben wir den Salat, is equally honest, direct and immediate: time and again, children at her concerts had asked for a song about animals. The result is a vegan song about (not) eating animals, which conveys animal rights and the importance of animal welfare in an age-appropriate way. Be sure to have a listen, join in the dancing, and bring the adults along too!
