FRANKENSTEIN

by Mary Shelley. Translation by Karl Bruno Leder and Gerd Leetz
Junges Theater an der Ruhr

Viktor Frankenstein wants to create.

Happy beings from dead matter who see him as their creator, eternally indebted to him for their existence. What would it be like to live in a world where death has been conquered, where dead people can be brought back to life? By him alone?

After delusional research, Viktor Frankenstein brings his own creature, cobbled together from all kinds of parts, to life and realizes that it is quite different from what he had imagined. He is disgusted. But the new creature wants to be loved. Frankenstein shirks this responsibility. Soon his creative urge turns into its opposite. The idea of a world in which creatures like his live seems unbearable to him. Now he is driven by the desire to destroy his unusual child.

A project of Laboratory III.
