The ArtObscura Sound Workshop
Sound Improvisations
Photo: Lara Uecker
For several years now, up to 15 music and rhythm enthusiasts with and without disabilities have been meeting at the Art Obscura sound workshop. Under the direction of Ruhr Prize winner Peter Eisold, they work on percussion and sound improvisations. They use conventional percussion instruments as well as everyday objects repurposed for this purpose. From electric toothbrushes to kitchen utensils, from hardware store materials to scrap metal, anything is possible.
The musicians like to seek out unusual locations for their performances, which often actively involve the audience. They have played in the park of the open-air stage as part of the KunstMachenLeben light art festival, on the Rathausmarkt, and on the Radschnellweg bridge over the Ruhr, among other places. Next stop: the foyer of the Theater an der Ruhr!
Look forward to sound improvisations on March 28 before and after the performance Wie Küsse, wie Schnee. Die Zukunft vorbereiten (UA) (Like Kisses, Like Snow. Preparing for the Future).
