Silent Reading Party

The Theater an der Ruhr invites you to a Silent Reading Party. In our foyer, we are creating a space for something that is often neglected. A space for focused, shared reading and silence.

For two hours, texts and stories take centre stage. Read a book or enjoy an audiobook through headphones. No obligation to chat, no discussion, no performance. Simply bring a book or audiobook of your choice, put your smartphone on silent, and experience tranquillity in company.

We’ll start by taking a moment to settle in, then immerse ourselves together in silence for a set period of time, before rounding off the evening with a drink and a casual, informal chat about what we’ve read. A small, curated book table will be available, featuring titles that complement the current season’s thematic focus.
