Mülheim’s downtown is always lovely—but it’s even more so during the summer series “Schön hier!”
On the first Thursday of every month between May and September—the only exception in 2026 is June, when “Schön hier!” will take place on the second Thursday, June 11, 2026, due to a holiday—the city center transforms into a lively promenade full of surprises: cool drinks, delicious street food, theater, music, market stalls, creative and informative offerings, and many lovingly designed activities ensure a great atmosphere and a true summer vibe.
The street festival, now popular beyond Mülheim’s borders, is a joint initiative of over 40 local businesses and downtown stakeholders. Their goal: to make the downtown area more accessible and to visibly showcase the diversity of urban life.
The event is recognizable by the uniform blue beach flags displayed at participating shops in the Wallviertel and the Old Town—they symbolize a strong community and immediately highlight special offers.
Since the pilot event in September 2021, “Schön hier!” has been held regularly and successfully—as a welcoming sign of a vibrant neighborhood, local solidarity, and open cooperation.
Anyone who joins in can offer their own activities in front of the store free of charge—even if they go beyond the company’s core business.
And for those who stop by? Just come enjoy, explore, and celebrate summer right in the heart of Mülheim.
