Unverhoffte Begegnungen
with Zelal Kisin & Oleg Zhukov

„Man is a zoon politikon,” says Aristotle: a social being who depends on living together and interacting with others. Yet it is precisely those moments of natural connection that seem to be lost in our hectic daily lives: a friendly glance, a smile, an unexpected word, small gestures that create a sense of closeness. This makes it all the more important to consciously make space for them and to make them tangible again as part of our shared life.
On selected days, Zelal Kisin and Oleg Zhukov will be hosting in the Utopia Tent. Encouraged by the enthusiastic response to the space for unexpected encounters that we opened for UTOPIE 2 in February, we’re bringing the idea straight into the tent. A rug on the grass, laid-back music, summery light – that’s all it takes to strike up an unexpected conversation.
Sometimes there are little performative surprises, or we collect your wishes for our wishing tree, which keeps growing ever larger. But really, this place isn’t about doing things, but simply about the unexpected joy of being together.
