They are the link between the international press and the Ukrainian population – the so-called fixers. They organise trips, know the cultural codes, assess the danger situation, translate conversations and establish contact with those affected by the war. What drives them to take on the next job despite the dangerous ‘frontline experience’? The play is based on a trip to Ukraine and interviews with fixers and journalists. They share a special relationship, yet at the same time they have different perspectives on the production and staging of stories. This is particularly evident in the USA, where a family is suing the TV channel Fox News. Their daughter was killed by a Russian missile while accompanying the channel's team as a fixer in Ukraine.

Based on personal accounts, the Cologne-based collective Futur3 focuses on a professional field that often remains unseen in reporting and examines questions surrounding work ethic, safety aspects, appreciation and postcolonial structures.

The project was developed in collaboration with Schauspiel Köln and Freihandelszone–Ensemblenetzwerk Köln e.V.

The play will be performed on rehearsal stage 2 of the Theater an der Ruhr, Ruhrorter Straße 108–110.

Making the Story – українські фіксер(к)и на війні

Вони стали сполучною ланкою між міжнародною пресою та українським суспільством – їх називають фіксер(к)ами. Вони організовують поїздки, розпізнають культурні коди, оцінюють ступінь небезпеки, перекладають, влаштовують зустрічі з постраждалими внаслідок війни. Що спонукає їх знову і знову братися до цієї роботи попри вже пережитий небезпечний «досвід фронту»?  Ця вистава базується на поїздці до України та численних інтерв’ю з фіксер(к)ами та журналіст(к)ами. Цих людей поєднує особливий досвід, і водночас вони мають різні погляди на створення і подачу історій. Особливого розголосу отримав судовий процес  в США, де сім'я загиблої від російського снаряду молодої фіксерки подала до суду на телеканал Fox News, команду котрого дівчина супроводжувала в Україні.

Опираючись на особисті свідчення, театр Futur3 звертається до сфери професійної діяльності, яка часто залишається невидимою у висвітленні подій в засобах масової комунікації, і досліджує питання професійної етики, аспекти безпеки, визнання та постколоніальних структур.
