Noma Omran

is a Syrian opera singer, vocalist and composer.

A graduate of the Damascus Conservatory (1997) and the Janacek Academy in Brno (1999-2001), she is now considered one of the greatest specialists in ancestral oriental maqam, especially Aramaic and Syriac chant. In addition, she was the first singer who, together with Stomu Yamashta, revived the sacred ritual of Zen in Daitokuji Temple in Kyoto, Japan (2009), as well as sang the first Ugaritic notes: Noma is the first female singer in modern history to discover and sing this piece (1400 BC). (AFertility Psalm, Journey, Salvation).

She has performed on prestigious theatrical stages and at sacred music festivals: Théâtre de la Ville Paris, Opéra de Lille, Bozar, Opera de La Monnaie, Brussels, The Acropolis Greece, Fez Festival of Sacred Music, Morocco.  As an actress and singer, Noma has played Violetta in the Verdi opera "Traviata" at the National Theater Brno in the Czech Republic in 2000. She played "Ishtar" and composed the music for "Gilgamesh" under the direction of Ariane Mnouchkine in (Théâtre du Soleil Paris.2005). She performed the "Queen Zenobia" in the opera Zenobia by "AlBINONI", in the Opera House of Damascus, Syria -2008. As a composer, she was active for the film "Silvered Water" by Ossama Mohammed (Cannes Film Festival. 2014). Until today she is continuously performing as a composer, singer and performer on the stages of the world.
