Alexander Schweiß
was born in Mannheim in 1998. He studied musicology and theatre studies in Mainz and composition at the University of Music and Theatre in Hamburg.
As a composer, director and artistic director, he has realised numerous projects for renowned theatres such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the opera house of the Nationaltheater Mannheim, Schauspiel Köln, Thalia Theater and Kampnagel.
His works combine musical theatre, concert, installation and performance, uniting contemporary theatrical means with musical composition and creating innovative formats that transcend conventional genre boundaries.
Humour, kitsch and absurdity characterise his current compositional work, which takes up historical material in the field of music theatre and thus also seeks a connection to documentary theatre.
Alexander R. Schweiß's productions and compositions have already been invited to several international art festivals and honoured with awards.
