Clara Brezinka is a freelance director for musical theatre and theatre musician. Classically trained on the violin and viola from early childhood, she developed her musical interests in numerous orchestras, in chamber music, and as a member of new music ensembles.
After completing her bachelor's degree in theatre and music studies in Munich and Krakow, she worked as an assistant director at the Residenztheater Munich, with the Berlin opera company Novoflot and with multimedia composer Alexander Schubert, among others. At the same time, she realised her first directing projects in Munich and Hamburg. Since 2023, Clara has been studying musical theatre directing at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre.
Her work as a theatre musician includes working with sound effects, acoustic instruments and electronic music. Her music has been performed in various productions at the Theaterakademie, most recently in the graduation plays Sandmann, directed by Tristan Linder, at the Thalia Theater (audience award at the Körber Studio Junge Regie) and Lenz, directed by Alina Sobotta, at Kampnagel. Most recently, she took on the musical direction for the production Don Karlos, directed by Robert Teufel, at the Theater Lübeck.
In spring 2026, Clara will take on the music for Kein Ort. Nirgends at the Theater an der Ruhr. She also uses her work as a sound designer in her own directing work.
