We are pleased to present the renowned British theater company The Lord Chamberlain’s Men in three performances of Shakespeare’s Othello in the original English language in the courtyard of Kloster Saarn.

The performances will take place from September 10 to 12, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. each day (doors open at 6:00 p.m.), as open-air events.

With the exception of the COVID-19 years, the ensemble has been a regular guest in Mülheim an der Ruhr since 2012 and has built up a loyal audience here ranging from schoolchildren to Shakespeare fans of all ages. Particularly noteworthy: Mülheim an der Ruhr is the only venue in Germany where this ensemble performs, giving it a regional appeal that extends beyond the city limits.

This year, the performances also mark a special new beginning: After the previous organizer, the Interkultur e. V. association, had to dissolve due to the advanced age of its members and a lack of successors for the board, the members approached the Theater an der Ruhr, which is now assuming organizational and legal responsibility and thereby ensuring the continued existence of this event series, which is unique in Germany. We are particularly pleased that the long-standing volunteers of the former LEAF Association will continue to contribute their experience and dedication and will help shape the festival together with the Theater an der Ruhr. In this way, the festival’s tried-and-true heart is preserved while also gaining a new organizational foundation.
