A dreamlike evening through the world of Georg Büchner
In his short life, Georg Büchner was a writer, scholar and political activist – and left behind an extraordinary body of work. With profound empathy and poetic power, his texts portray people caught between powerlessness, turmoil and weariness. They revolve around exploitation and the search for meaning, existential crises and criticism of social conditions, longing and revolution. To this day, they have lost none of their depth or relevance.
In their collaborative production, Roberto Ciulli and Dijana Brnić traverse Büchner’s world and unfold a moving kaleidoscope of his themes. The starting point for their work is the novella "Lenz", in which the eponymous character becomes increasingly unsure whether he is awake or dreaming. Certainties dissolve, thoughts race, emotions tremble: what is going on inside this Lenz? And what is going on inside us, who are perhaps closer to him than we realise?
